The malabsorptive technique is when a patient’s intestines are rerouted to reduce the calories absorbed. Malabsorptive is a very powerful technique that is used with the restrictive technique, in the RNY gastric bypass and duodenal switch.

Gastric Sleeve gastrectomy is a weight loss surgery that produces weight loss by restricting the size of the stomach. Dr. Osuna performs this procedure laparoscopically, removing as much as 80% of the stomach.
